To My Friends and Supporters Across the State:

Thank you all for your assistance and support in this campaign. 

I wish we could have been successful. But, even more than in success, I firmly believe in the old adage that the it is not in the winning, or the losing, but in how the game is played. And I thought our game was a good and worthy one. With a little more time, and little more money, I have no doubt but that we could have won this primary election.

To all the volunteers who helped, and all the Party regulars all across the state who invited me into their counties, and kept me informed of venues where I could bring the campaign, let me say that I appreciate your interest and efforts more than you can know.

Congratulations to Clyde Jones. I’ll be voting for you in the fall, and I hope my friends and supporters will do the same.

This campaign was my first one as a candidate, and it has been an important learning experience for me. I’ve been involved in political campaigns all my adult life. But being a campaign supporter or a consultant is one thing. Being the candidate is something else entirely. It’s an important lesson that I’m glad I had the opportunity to learn.
