Steve Dodd

Steve Dodd was born and raised in Arab, Alabama where he also
attended public school.
He was accepted to the University of
Alabama where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979. Steve
went
on to attend the University of Alabama School of Law where he earned his
law degree in 1982.
After completing law school, Steve was
asked to serve as the Assistant Legal Advisor to Gov. George C.
Wallace. Later he became involved as a campaign staff member
in a number of governor's races during the 1980s including Bill Baxley
and Gov. Wallace. Steve also worked
in or raised money for various other campaigns including Mondale for
President in 1984 and Dukakis for President in 1988.
In the late 80s Steve started a part-time political consulting business.
In
1989 he managed the Roger Bedford for Attorney General campaign.
In 1990, he managed the campaign of Lynn Greer for U. S. Congress, Ala. 5th District.
In 1994 Steve managed his first Republican race involving Greg Griffin for the
Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. From the mid-90s to the mid -00s,
Steve advised the campaigns of Lynn Gowan, a Republican Montgomery County Commissioner.
In 1998, Steve managed the Democratic state legislative campaign of Jan Dempsey for Alabama House District 79 in Auburn.
In 1999,
he served as a consultant to Bobby Bright in his first successful bid
for Mayor of the City of Montgomery.
Steve has also done media consulting work for the following past or current members of the Alabama
Legislature including Sen. Don Hale (R – Cullman), Rep. Alan Booth
(D.–Troy); Dr. Robert Bentley (R.– Tuscaloosa), Neal Morrison (D.-
Cullman), and Terry Spicer, (D.- Elba).
Steve Dodd's bid for a position on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals
is his first political race as a candidate.
